The Road, More or Less, Traveled

THE END

Oct 28th 2010 - 2:43 PM

Dear Friends, Family, Fans and Followers:

Thank you for all of your support, contributions, e mails and prayers. On September 16th, car # 70 AKA Bessy motored down the Champs-Elysees around the Arc de Triomphe and into the Place Vendome to cross the finish line in Paris, France. After traveling 8,923 miles across deserts, rivers, snowy mountains and through vineyards, tiny villages and vast grazing ranges our journey was complete.

Of the 98 cars that started in Beijing, 85 made it to Paris one way or another. Many drove, some arrived on the back of a truck and/or the hold of a cargo plane. I am proud to say # 70 drove the entire prescribed route, even when not required. In Iran Bill and I decided to take the long way through the mountains on a section the organizers canceled due to bad weather and border delays. It turned out to be some of the best curves, scenic roads and scenery we encountered. One day in Mongolia Bessy road 110 miles on the back of a truck. It turns out once off the truck we were able to fix her simply with the help of other contestants.

We finished 23rd over all, but just finishing was the real accomplishment. The real highlight of the trip were the people we met. The contestants were from 26 countries and a very diverse group of individuals. I believe we have met characters that will be life long friends. Friendly and helpful people were present in every country we visited. In Iran children offered flowers and local officials made speeches and gave us gifts.

We have yet to total the contributions and pledges to the Pegasus Foundation but we are very pleased at the interest and response from all of you.

I am Mailing a letter to all who have pledged on a per mile basis. Your total will be the amount you pledged multiplied by 8,923 miles. Feel free to round up to 10,000 miles if you wish.

You are welcome to mail your check before you receive the letter from me. I am a little slow catching up after being gone for 47 days.

Please mail all donations directly to:

Again, thank all of you for your support.

PEKING TO PARIS

BILL AND DANNY'S GREAT ADVENTURE!

Jun 28th 2010 - 2:38 PM

Relaxing in the sun.

Dear Friends, Family, Customers and Suppliers:

As some of you already know on September 10th, 2010, my friend Bill Shields and I will be embarking on a journey of a lifetime. We are driving a restored and modified 1939 Dodge Coupe in the event "Peking to Paris" road rally. The trip takes us to the remotes of China and Mongolia and then onto Russia, Kazakhstan ,Uzbekistan, Turkministan, four days in Iran, Turkey, Greece, a ferry to Italy, and finally to the finish in Paris, France. Unfortunately the country of Kyrgyzstan was recently removed from our itinerary due to the civil unrest. This is a shame; we have heard it is some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.

As the web site name, www.p2p4pegasus.com, implies we have tied this trip to raising funds and awareness for the Pegasus Project Foundation. Pegasus Project is a North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) Premier Accredited Equestrian Center, providing therapeutic riding and equine-assisted activities to those with special needs and disabilities. This wonderful project is located at the Tumbleweed Ranch here in the Yakima Valley and has touched the hearts and lives of many families. It is truly amazing to see the positive effect this center has on the children, the parents and families not to mention the fulfillment the volunteers receive as they see they are truly making a difference. Thank you Janie Plath for founding this project, and thank you to all the many others who have made the center a reality. You are all true heroes. We are accepting pledges on a per mile basis for the distance we are successful in completing. The maximum is 10,000 miles. The course is approx. 9,000 miles, but changes could happen, or God forbid we could get lost. We are making it very easy to pledge. Using the pledge page on this web site, you can fill out and e mail back, or copy and fax to me at 509-575-8879, or simply send an e- mail with a pledge per mile or pledge a set dollar amount.

Also you can simply mail a check payable Pegasus Project Foundation at:

5808-A Summitview Ave. 324
Yakima WA. 98908
c/o Janie Plath
Please note P2P on the check

The entire 100% of the funds donated are going directly to the Pegasus Project Foundation. The Pegasus Project Foundation is a 501 C3 Organization (Tax ID # 870700052). You will receive a written receipt for this gift. Bon Appetite!!! Janie Plath the founder of the Pegasus Project is cordially inviting all contributors who pledged $1.00 per mile or more to join us for dinner October 17th, 2010 in Paris, France. I understand she is going all out. Time is of the essence as Janie is requesting a head count. If you are interested in attending this celebration please let me or Janie, know as soon as possible. Janie's e-mail is mrsplath@aol.com

A nice Sunday drive.

We have installed a device called Skytag. This is a GPS tracking device that will enable our followers to locate us via the Internet. For those of you interested, we will provide access information upon request. Please forward this site to anyone you feel would be interested in helping us further the cause of the Pegasus Project Foundation. Please join us on this journey by supporting this wonderful organization.

Thank you.
